Karmic Change: North Node in Pisces + South Node in Virgo
When: January 2025 - August 2026
Welcome to a karmic season of learning to trust your intuition, understanding how you can serve the world and moving beyond the need for everything to be 'perfect'
WHAT ARE THE NODES?
In Astrology, the Nodes are two points in a chart that helps us understand destiny. The North Node points to where the soul is called to evolve in this incarnation - you could call this dharma or soul purpose; and the South Node points to the mastery and karma that lies within the evolving soul based on it's past life incarnations. These two points are often called the head + tail of the dragon - the dragon being a mythical creature that represents a line of energy or power. The Nodes live in your chart (and will determine big karmic patterns in your life), as well as transit through your chart (activating key events in your life that help you awaken to this past life mastery + evolution).
THEY ARE CHANGING SIGNS
These nodal points change signs every 18 months, and take about 18.5 years to go around the Zodiac. Unlike the rest of the planets these 'shadow' points move backwards through the chart - unpicking karmic energy we need to work through as well as helping us to open up to new opportunities for our own evolution. In January of 2025 (between the 12th - if you use True Node - and the 29th if you use Mean Node), the Nodes are completing an 18.5 year cycle and moving into the Pisces/ Virgo Axis. I use Mean Nodes and so this movement will occur with the Aquarius New Moon. They will stay in these signs until the 19th of August 2026 so we're in for both an individual and collective shift in consciousness (which some would say is definitely needed).
So let's look at what this axis represents....
NORTH NODE IN PISCES
Themes: Intuition, Occult Practices, Misinformation and Psychic Abilities
The North Node represents where we encounter a call for evolution in our consciousness and our soul. It's presence in Pisces (the final sign of the Zodiac) makes this a period which is deeply mystical and spiritual. It is calling for you to connect to the unseen world - your ancestral lineage (who knew this realm), to the metaphysical and to the world of spirit. This can bring with it challenges to your own faith, and a call to really trust what can't be seen or explained rationally. This can mark 18 months of exploring your intuitive abilities, of trusting what you psychically perceive and starting to let go of any dogma you've been holding around what you believe - as this is a place where you'll be called to see the unity that underpins all forms of spirituality + religion. The North Node in Pisces can also see your dream life being turned up a lot as well as your idealism and hope for the world (which is really needed). The big watch out during this time is around misinformation, as Pisces can obscure and make it hard to tell what is unreal from what is real. So it's a time to also develop your discernment.
SOUTH NODE IN VIRGO
Themes: Purification, Health, Wellbeing, Daily Routine, Rational Mind
Where Pisces is dreamy and intuitive, this is offset by the South Node (which represents both soul gifts and karma) in the sign of Virgo. Here you can find that your mind gets a whole lot more analytical, and there can be a craving to have all of the information before you make a decision. You can find that this is a period where you are slowly finding a balance between your rational mind and emerging intuitive abilities (see how they can actually work together not fight with each other). This is also a period of time where you are being called to pay extra attention to your health and wellbeing. There can be a lot of karmic energy that gets processed through the body (particularly during Eclipse Seasons), and so you're being called to consider (now) how you need to show up each day (in your routine) to support your adrenals, and your immune system. This is the perfect time to change your routine so that you give yourself extra time to fill your own cup, as the South Node in Virgo will have you easily burnt out + over extending yourself to others if you don't. The South Node in Virgo can see you feeling a deep calling to better organise your life, and to also be a little more clean that you would normally. Added to that you can find you awaken to new soul gifts around healing and serving through this process.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN IN THE COLLECTIVE?
In essence it means that there can be a little bit of turbulence around existing the medical system, practices, therapies, and even the way in which we have relied on traditional institutions (think insurers, medical providers) to assist the collective - this will go through a massive upheaval. Added to that this can be a period of big health break throughs for existing illnesses. It also means that we are entering an era where there will be an elevation of spiritual leaders as activists, (more) misinformation in the media and big growth in spirituality (as opposed to religion - think returning to indigenous practices + mysticism). We can expect a lot of this to take place when we have Eclipse Seasons around March and then September in 2025; then February-March in 2026.
WHY THIS CAN FEEL PARTICULARLY BIG FOR YOU?
Every 18.5 years we individually have our Nodal returns, which represents a massive shift in our karma + dharma. So you can find that if you're 18.5, 36, 54-55, 73, 92...that this is a period which is particularly BIG for you. You can find that you're being called to work through karmic energy around perfectionism, and the pressure you place upon yourself to serve others + be perceived as 'good'...as well as being called to be cracked open to your intuitive gifts (which can feel a little unsettling).
