THIS FULL MOON MARKS BUDDHA PURNIMA
Before we jump into the astrology of this Full Moon it’s important to note it’s historical + spiritual significance as the Moon under which the Buddha was believed to have been born – or more correctly it’s the Full Moon that follows on from his birthday. If we want to get technical his Jayanthi (birthday) was on the 5th (the celebration of his birth), and this Full Moon is the celebration of the cosmic energy under which he was born. As such this is a very important Moon (also calls Vesak) to honour the Buddha from within which is the inner enlightened aspect of self.
A KAMIC BALANCE IS BEING RESTORED
This Full Moon in Libra is calling to a close a cycle of energy that started around the 12th-14th of November 2023.
This is an energetic cycle that is focused on creating a karmic balance and as Libra rules relationships we can be assured that this area of our lives is where we are creating equilibrium. That can manifest as karmic contracts that are complete being released (like someone leaving your life unexpectedly), as well as new connections being made with souls who are here to enlighten you (remember everyone is your teacher). We might not understand the flow of what is happening through the ‘thinking mind’, but it is there to balance a debt that extends beyond this lifetime.
THE BODY, qUITE LITERALLY, KEEPS SCORE
In Satnama Dharma (what we call Hinduism) there is a concept called Runanubandha, which literally means ‘karmic debt’…and this lives in the body which holds the vasanas or soul imprints from every person we have ever been in contact with as family, through an intimate relationship or even just physical contact (like bumping into someone you don’t know as your walk). The body keeps these memories (not the mind which can often not understand why certain people are in our lives), in order to keep a balance of what is owed and to whom.
Now the universe has infinite time + lifetimes to bring this energy into balance and on occasion a certain Moon or transit will make the right cosmic time to call in a karmic debt. This is one of those Moons. As such it can bring forth a debt that needs to be settled in your relationships…knowing that this is a debt that has been around for lifetimes. As such this is a Full Moon which is focused on soul contracts, creating balance in our relationships and helping us to evolve into the parts of self we put (project) on others (which are always in our relationships).
What is beautiful about this Moon is that the Sun is exalted in Aries, and so as the Sun represents ‘the soul’ it gives us the necessary energy and vitality to work with this balancing energy. The sense that we cannot just see this through but learn from it.
ALIGNED WITH THE STAR OF PURPOSE
This Full Moon at 27’59 Libra falls in the lunar mansion called Vishaka – which consists of the 4 stars of Libra (as well as part of the start of the Scorpio constellation, namely it’s claw). This is known as the Star of Purpose and give us the ability to connect to something deeper from within – to nurture the relationship we have with the soul. You can find that this is a Moon where you receive your due and get to reap something you have been waiting quite some time to receive – patience is the key with this Moon.
Know that whatever comes through it is part of the great universal karmic balancing act. That can manifest as someone finishing a karmic contract with you, or a new connection who will foster your personal growth (whether they realise it or not) entering your life. That all said the key to this Moon is Prema – Selfless Love. It is calling for you to see that people will come and go, karma will play out…but what you are, lives beyond this karmic drama and is of the nature of love.
This is the perfect Moon to take sometime to tune into the relationship you have with yourself, to foster a deeper connection to the love that lives within you (naturally) and even see that this the core relationship of your life - the one upon which every other relationship is built (as a reflection of this).
LESSONS IN SOVEREIGNTY + BOUNDARIES
As this Full Moon falls in alignment with the Goddess Asteroids Juno and Medusa (who is retrograde) there is a big focus on self-love. This can manifest as a Moon that shines light on the places where you are giving your power away – and even where there is a karmic imbalance where more is being given than received.
This can be an energy that has been bubbling within over the last 18 months and reaches a tipping point with this Full Moon as it asks for you to call your power back – and foster the inner relationship (the one between ‘you’ and ‘you’). As Medusa sits with Juno, in retrograde, there can also be a focus on listening to what is a boundary for you. Something that starts with really understanding yourself, and what a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ is. You can find that the mind wants to replay old lessons in boundaries that you’ve had through dreams, visions or ruminations…the best thing to do with this is to listen to what these have to tell you and also reflect on how far you’ve come over this lunar cycle in understanding what boundaries are, and what a ‘yes’ really is.
