JUPITER MOVES INTO GEMINI

Jupiter moves out of the grounded, earthy energy of Taurus into Gemini this month marking a big shift in how we receive information and in the possibilities, we find within the world. Everything Jupiter touches expands – for better or worse – added to that Jupiter is the Guru of the Zodiac and so there is always a deeper spiritual lesson we are working with in whatever sign he is in. As he moves into an Air Sign which can be flighty, filled with information and chatter (as Gemini represents the intellect) we can find that we’re firstly overwhelmed by information and at the same time there is a draw to move beyond the details, to see the bigger picture and even find some balance in that.

JUPITER IS THE TEACHER OF DHARMA + TRUTH

Jupiter is about dharma, truth, and realisation, so this can be a period of time where there is a focus on ‘free press’, truth in journalism + media as well as the legality of this industries. There can be a really big focus collectively on what is right, and for the highest good. At a personal level, he represents the higher mind, and he is entering a sign which is about the lower mind. It can feel like we’re in kindy again with some of the lessons we are learning about communication (ensuring we are speaking up), listening and trusting intuition. Jupiter can bring a much needed anchor to this energy and even see you stepping wanting to express your words more creatively, to not be so limited in how you express yourself, and to stop getting so hung up on details or semantics if that’s something that happens to you – this can be true if you have a a lot of Virgo or Gemini energy in your chart. Jupiter can also push Gemini’s energy within. There can be a bigger focus on how we speak to ourselves, psychology which revolves around self-talk or words, even in pop-culture the focus on talk therapy, affirmations, ultimately the realisation that this world only exists because we name it. Collectively this an be a period where there is incredible works of music created, poetry, and even how spirituality is woven into these. You can find that even religious underpinnings sit within popular pieces of work, or there is poetry, novels or movies that talk about deeper philosophical topics.

GREATER FREEDOM IN IDENTITY AND COMMUNICATION

As Gemini is the twins, you can find that Jupiter brings greater freedom to your sense of identity. That said Jupiter isn’t the happiness in Gemini (as his Mulatrikona is in Sagittarius 0-10’). There can be the chance that you feel unhinged, ungrounded and like there are so many opportunities it’s hard to know which to choose. The best thing to do is channel this energy into research, learning and keeping an open mind. 

So here are the key themes to watch for while Jupiter is in Gemini:

1.Leaked Information + Whistle Blowers

 It’s like the Buddha said 3 things can’t be hidden ‘the Sun, the Moon and truth’. When Jupiter enters Gemini it has immense impact on the state of how we communicate and as he represents Dharma it means that what has been hidden or is false needs to be revealed particularly when it is in the highest good of the population.

 For example, the last time Jupiter was in Gemini between the 31st of May 2013 – 18th of June 2014, Edward Snowden (who’s Sun, North Node + Mars are in Gemini), the former NSA contractor leaked classified documents educating the public on the mass global surveillance programs being run by the US government in co-operation with other countries (this happened in June 2013 right after Jupiter moved into Gemini just as the Sun moves into the Orb of Jupiter).

 If we go back a little further, we can see hints of this during the period June 16th 2001 – 4th of July 2002 when Costa Rica advanced Freedom of Speak by abolishing criminal penalties for insulting public officials. Radio stations in India were deregulated (allowing for competition). Added to that The Boston Globe published an investigation which led to the criminal prosecution of 5 Roman Catholic priest for Sexual abuse of minors.

 This was also the year that Time Magazine Labelled it’s personals of the Year ‘The Whistleblowers’ being Coleen Rowley (who whistleblowing of FBI director Robert Mullers mishandling of intelligence before 9/11), Cynthia Cooper (who reported fraud within the company Worldcom which led to it’s collapse) and Sherron Watkins (who exposed the Enron scandal). This actually led to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act in July 2002 to give legal protection to Whistleblowers.

What we can expect…. The unexpected, people willing to speak up even put their jobs on the line to speak up against government corruption, corporate greed etc. It wouldn’t be surprising for this to come about in a new way – like the leaking of information anonymously or in a new form which makes it digestible to the population.

Focus on LGBTQ+ and Same-Sex Rights:

Gemini as a sign rules the rights of those who live outside of the binary – as the non-binary planet (Hermes) as well as the dharma (ethics) of same sex couples. As such this can be a period where there is a vigorous discussion and progress in this area (particularly if it has felt like certain countries are actually moving backwards).

For example, the last time Jupiter was in Gemini between the 31st of May 2013 – 18th of June 2014, the US had it’s landmark DOMA ruling which required the federal government to recognise same sex-marriages legally performed in states. Bans that were in place were overturned, and this actually had a big effect internationally with France, Brazil, UK and NZ adopting making Same Sex Marriage legal. That said at the same time we had the infamous ‘gay propaganda’ law in Russia (who has their Jupiter in Gemini) and similar criminalisation happening in India.

What we can expect…. Changes in rights, equality and recognition beyond a binary in society. This can also create some backlash for countries unwilling to move forward (like happened with Russia).

Shift in How information is Accessed:

Gemini is an energy which is the source of information, and it’s a little like Uranus in that it also deals with technology and how we consumer information. As such we can expect that Jupiter in Gemini will change, or exponentially increase the way in which information is consumed not so much the introduction of new tech but the acceleration. Interesting Fact Tim Berners-Lee created the World Wide Web in 1989 when Jupiter was in Gemini

For example, the last time Jupiter was in Gemini between the 31st of May 2013 – 18th of June 2014, this was the period in time when the number of people accessing the internet by their mobile phone overtook the number accessing it by desktop.

 The time before that June 16th 2001 – 4th of July 2002, the first iPod was released (which moved consumption of music from CD or Tapes to MP3), and the creation of iTunes as a means to legally consume Music. Added to that this was a period when 3G wireless technology was first adopted and X-Box is first released by Microsoft + PlayStation 2 was released by Sony. This also co-incided with a steep decline in the sales of newspapers and magazines with the slow rise in digital news sites – which birthed citizen journalism.

What we can expect…the acceleration of AI, and new ways to consume information like the next AI search engine to replace Google, new ways of consuming movies or media + even different devices – accelerating user generated content.  

A Time of Imagination:

In terms of pop-culture when Jupiter is Gemini the media we consume tends to be imaginative, theatrical and animated. Jupiter wants to expand the worlds of Gemini and therefore it can be a time where there is actually some greater art, books, movies to consume.

The last time Jupiter was in Gemini we had Frozen the Movie debut which blended musical with an animation, Iron Man, The Hobbit, and Hunger Games. When Jupiter was in Gemini (the time before last) from June 16th 2001 – 4th of July 2002 we had Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Spider Man, Shrek and Monsters Inc…as well as the incredible Spirited Away. All imaginative films with a strong fantasy component. Added to that this was a period when American Idol first debuted.

What we can expect…hopefully a time where we move beyond repeating old movies or over focus grouping things. Instead this can be a time where there are new concepts, imagination, and rise in fictional works.
