NEW MOON IN BHARANI NAKSHATRA

This New Moon - the first of the Solar New Year - falls in the horns of the Aries Constellation at 13'34 degrees.

This is a place known as Bharani Nakshatra in Vedic Astrology. It is the home of Shakti (Divine Feminine energy). As such it is calling for nourishment, fearlessness, support and to awaken more of the feminine energy from within. That means considering taking action from a place which is creative, generative, sensual and even a little chaotic.

Don't be suprised if this New Moon challenges the logic of the ego + inner masculine, which often demands rational, linear action. Instead the coming New Moon and 6 months lunar cycle are calling for you to think more in terms of receiving, allowing and fearlessly destroying what intuitively is no longer in alignment. This isn't a time to worry if it 'makes sense' to the thinking mind or to push through what you've already been finding exhausting. This New Moon demands that you allow life to flow through you, to go with the pull of Shakti, to embrace but also hold lightly the material realm and to understand that everything is spiritual (from your sexuality, to your body to your inner flame that lives within).

RULED BY THE GOD OF DEATH + RENEWAL YAMA

Bharani Nakshatra is overseen by the Deity Yama, known as the god of death + renewal, which means he sits as an energy which brings about endings and regeneration from what as been released (a little like Winter). As such this is a New Moon which can be as much about what you're ready to let go of as well as what you're longing to call in. This might manifest as a time of personal sacrifice, of selling a once important possession, releasing a karmic bond (a relationship, job etc) or even letting go of past frustrations + angers by allowing yourself to fully sit in the lesson.

Yama is the teacher of restraint and discipline. He calls for you to take note of how desires are 'running your life' and your mind. To even get aware of the desires you perpetuate (through your thinking of how life should be) that don't serve you or nourish you - but instead bring stress, anxiety + worry. You can find that this New Moon brings the ability to sniff out the fire of these rampant desires, so you can find that what you thought you wanted (even in the lead up to this Moon) is no longer driving your actions or motivations. This can feel like something deep within has shifted.

THIS IS THE HOME OF SHAKTI + CREATIVE INCUBATION

Symbolically this New Moon is linked with the Yoni (the womb or creative centre). You can imagine this energy as the portal through which energy is incubated into physical form. This is a New Moon where it can feel like you are being called to create, to bring something to life...but know the cost of this is letting go of something in exchange so that there is space for this energy to come through you.

It’s almost like what you are giving up is being regenerated into this new energy.

Added to that this isn't a Moon to act - just yet - or force something into this world ahead of it's time. No, this is about embracing the energy of the Divine Feminine and trusting your intuition when the time will be right. In a way this is a very 'un-Aries' energy as where you might find there is something within you that wants to 'do', this Moon is saying just wait…as what is coming through you isn't quite ready.

Which brings us to the idea of...

SOMETIMES THE BEST ACTION IS NOT ACTING

As Aries' ruler, Mars, is soaking in the emotional waters of Cancer at the moment you can find that this is a Moon where you need to face into the inner friction of wanting to act but not knowing what that next step is.

Everything about this Moon is saying wait, as any direction or movement taken now that is forced will simply leave you exhausted. Instead this is a time to embrace the importance of waiting. It’s also the opportunity shift your thinking from seeing waiting as a frustration or inconvenience - to seeing it as an important action.

That sometimes the right thing to do is 'nothing'.

Why? Because while Mars is in Cancer (until the 9th of Jun) you can find that you're spinning your wheels. That it feels like you are pushing something uphill and in the process wasting a lot of energy by not listening intuitively to the universe. Added to that you might decide on a way forward, and then change your mind as you start to move or not fully understand the bigger picture. There is a time and place for everything, and this New Moon is one where you're being called slow down, enjoy the ego's stories of needing to act - and even seeing where these come from...like why is it that you need to move or do?

Because now is the time to wait, and appreciate non-action.

FINALLY, THERE IS CONFLICT AS MARS OPPOSES PLUTO

If we Zoom out on the New Moon it is forming a grand cross with Pluto in Capricorn, Mars in Cancer, Black Moon Lilith + Hekate in Libra. As such there is a lot of tension in the collective, that is necessary for the change we need to make as a community. You might even find that there is a sense of deja-vu to this energy as the last time we had Pluto Opposing Mars perfectly was in November (with the US elections), and then in January. This is our 3rd and final time (at lease for a couple of years) of Mars Opposing Pluto.

Collectively this New Moon can aggravate existing conflict in governments, countries + institutions, bring about questions of hierarchy, and discrimination. In fact there can be a sense of not knowing how to move, feeling locked in by things being overly structured and seemingly impossible to shift. This steam is creating the necessary inner turmoil to bring about incredible collective change over the next 6 months to the Full Moon on the 5th of November.

As the Divine Feminine is exerting her Shakti in this Moon be prepared for the truth to be heard - from both within and without. Remembering that you are a micro of the collective, and what is happening outside of you is also within.
