First Full Moon Post Eclipse Season

This Full Moon marks our first lunation post eclipse season (which was running rampant through March - and it's ripples continuing through early April). As this Moon in Virgo peaks it helps to ground some of the chaos we have been digesting and even make sense of why certain things were popping-in and being dragged out of our lives. This Moon has the potential to bring some clarity, understanding and even logic to the new sense of alignment you were pushed into during Eclipse Season. As Virgo is a mutable, earth sign it gives you the power to not just be practical with this (like starting your 'to do' list, or logically working out how to move forward) but to also be flexible with any sudden changes that might pop-up.

Our Second Moon of 2025 at 29 degrees

This Virgo Full Moon at it's penultimate degree (29’) marks a time of transformation, and of embracing necessary change particularly when it comes to your wellbeing and daily routine. This is the second Moon of the year at this degree (the other was the Cancer Full Moon in February), which says that 2025 is not mucking around. It's time to be honest with where you need to fill your own cup, where you need to listen to your body (instead of the very convincing mind) and where you need to rest. It's important that if you're already feeling a little anxious or burnt out in the lead up this Moon that you consider getting 'horizontal' (aka resting) before the universe does this for you.

Something to consider is that rest is not something you 'deserve' but rather it is a discipline you create - just like productivity. The more you get comfortable with scheduling time to rejuvenate, the more capacity you can find within you to serve the world. Remember there are no prizes in this lifetime for not honouring what you need or seeing your needs as equal to everyone else's. The game of 'not deserving' or working hard to feel like you deserve is just a story of the ego...and sooner or later our soul will slow us down so we can really learn to honour the body (the temple of our soul).

The Focus is on Wellbeing + Health

This Full Moon is calling into manifestation energy that has been brewing within and all around you since October 2023 (particularly around the 14th-15th of that month). As Virgo deals with routine and wellbeing these can be big themes for you during this Full Moon.

When Virgo is unhealed is can feel deeply nervous, is always striving for perfection and looks to others for validation...getting this prize by placing its needs second so that it can be seen as 'selfless' in the eyes of others. The irony is that this act is entirely self-serving and yet we all do it.

Unhealed Virgo energy can also manifest as the deep need to have purpose, without ever being able to settle on what exactly that is or means. As we start to heal this energy within us we can experience Virgo through a sense of presence, inner purpose and an ability to see our body as equal to all bodies on earth...and therefore deserving of care.

Ultimately, Virgo is about healing and serving the world from a place of seeing the divine within all. As Mercury, who rules Virgo, is currently debilitated in Pisces you might find that this Full Moon brings up a lot of rumination and even a need for detail that is impossible to ascertain (FYI. this is not a Full Moon to try and write a list of ‘pros’ and cons’). This is a time to make friends with not knowing, with being imperfect, and moving through the shame + guilt (of the ego) in caring for yourself.

It falls in Chitra Nakshatra

This Full Moon falls in alignment with the brightest star in the Virgo constellation called Spica which is known as the Star of Opportunity and sits within the Vedic Lunar Mansion 'Chitra'. As such you can find that this is a Moon that brings some tension around whether you're living up to your potential or not. Added to that there can be frustration and anger at the conflict you see outside of yourself...and a sense that maybe the world isn't living up to it's potential either.

All of this talk of idealism is there to help you see that the world and yourself will always be fundamentally imperfect in the eyes of the ego, but not in the eyes of the divine. In fact the belief that things aren't going your way or the way you think they should is there to wake you up to the wisdom that everything is as it should be. It's time to be humbled by the intelligence that the divine has everything under control...and it's not your job to judge what is happening as perfect or imperfect (that doesn't mean not taking action against perceived injustice just not holding onto the results of what happens).

Pay attention to sudden flashes of insight that drop in around this Moon that help you understand this.

Added to that as Mars (who rules Chitra Nakshatra) is in challenge with this Moon, there isn't the ability to see (yet) that the conflict, chaos and uncertainty swirly around and within you is playing a very important role in your enlightenment. So don't rush action around this Moon and be really aware of your anger directed towards situations out of your control. This all holds a larger purpose, and you can use it to question your thoughts + find the pearls of wisdom within to guide you.

HonourING Past Karma + the Akashic Records

In India this Full Moon is known as Chitra Pournami (or Chitra Full Moon) and is a time where the holder of the Akashic Records - Chitragupta - is honoured. The role of this deity is to keep record of all actions both good and bad that have been taken in past lives (on behalf of Yama the God of Death + Renewal). This karmic record that Chitragupta holds is part of what we are working through in this life.

This Full Moon offers the opportunity to seek forgiveness from Chitragupta for any wrong doings that were committed in ignorance in these lives. Added to that you can (in true Virgo energy) dedicate all your good deeds and charitable acts to the benefit of all living beings as a means to balance this past karma during this Full Moon.

In a way this celebration helps us remember that Virgo is the cosmic energy (or Ray) that lives to serve in purity, and from a place of remembering the divine in all. Added to that very often the karmic payment that is given out by Virgo is illness or disease, which is used as a means to create balance. If you feel called you could offer your prayers to the Moon, Chitragupta or the goddess of your understanding and seek forgiveness from past wrong doings (even if you’re unsure of what these are).

There is lots more going on with this Full Moon (like Chiron + Adriadne offering their energy to it). If you want to learn more about this Moon for the collective (with the Full Astrology Forecast) as well as personally (with a written reading) - check out the Virgo Full Moon Ritual + Reading.
