The Longing for Home with July’s New Moon in Pushya
The New Moon on the 24th-25th of July is calling you home in a deeply spiritual sense.
When: 24th – 25th of July, 2025
THE LONGING TO RETURN HOME
The New Moon on the 24th-25th of July will fall right in the middle of the Cancer constellation in a lunar mansion called Pushya. Pusha is known as the star of nourishment. The type of nourishment this Nakshatra provides feeds you is from the inside out. It has nothing to do with the material realm and everything to do with the infinite well of love that lives within.
Astronomical Placement of the New Moon in heart-tail of Cancer Constellation
It’s the place where you come to see that the abundance and belonging, you’ve been longing for, were really calls from awareness to find it’s home with the soul. As this New Moon peaks, you can find that this longing grows a little louder, and it’s not something a place or four walls can satisfy (though that can definitely be a manifestation of this Moon if it’s karmically available). This is a New Moon that is calling you forth on a cosmic journey where over the coming 18 months you will come to directly feel and experience home from within.
THE GIFT OF DEVOTION
This New Moon is saturated in Brahmavarchas Shakti (the divine power of Pushya), which gifts the power to create spiritual energy or follow the path of Brahman (the un-manifest, infinite intelligence). It calls for worship, for devotion and for the connection to what is dharmic (ethical, moral and true) to be cultivated. It’s considered an incredibly auspicious place for the Moon, as it is not concerned with the material realm but with the reason you have taken incarnation – to realise the divine within. As such this spiritual energy, this call to devotion and worship is the way to awaken to this intelligence, first-hand. Remembering that no one or thing (including external Spiritual Teacher or Guru) can save you or make you ‘enlightened’ that is you job.
You can find that this is a New Moon where you strengthen you Sadhana (Spiritual practice), create space on your home to worship, or follow that call within to love and make your life your practice by meeting it with devotion. Know that the intentions you lay right now, will start to feel tangible over the coming 18 months to the Full Moon on the 22nd of January 2027 (which falls in Pushya).
THIS CAN MANIFEST AS A CALL FROM HOME
For some this New Moon can quite literally manifest as a call home – to a place you grew up in, from your mother or the call to move into a place which truly feels like home. Remembering that the external world is set up for your enlightenment, not to satisfy your needs or wants. So as this New Moon peaks you can find that there are big inner questions around how you want to live, where you want to live or even who you want to live with…there can also be realisations around the relationship you had with your first home, your Mother. All of which hold gems of insight into the realisation that the only home that will ever truly satisfy you lies within. It is from this place that no matter where you move, or who you live with you know you always belong. For home can never be taken from you, because it is you.
THE KARMIC PRICE OF KNOWLEDGE
One of the gifts of this New Moon is the inner tug of war between freedom and responsibility – that desire for change and then fear that you can’t because money, family, the unknown etc - all cards the Ego loves to play. This is a Moon which will give you the wisdom and insight you have been looking for but the price to pay for this is direct experience. That’s because Bhrihaspati (Jupiter) and Saturn get to form a relationship under the energy of this New Moon. Where Jupiter is the Guru of the Devas - giving wisdom and cultivating your divine qualities; and Saturn is the Lord of Karma who gives us the karmic lesson to earn that wisdom (from Jupiter).
If you notice some inner heaviness or even resistance coming up with this New Moon – know that is Saturn directly speaking to you through his heavy hand. Saturn can release karmic energy around this New Moon (which can manifest as seeming obstacles) but is there to teach you the true meaning of Home. You might find this pop-up through energy around your mother or maternal energy, questions around where you are living or people that come to stir up your sense of belonging. Know that Saturn and Bhrihaspati together are working for your liberation, giving you the wisdom to face your karma as well as the grace of experiencing it so that you can find freedom.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR IN YOUR CHART
This New Moon can be particularly significant if you have any planets sitting in Cancer (SideReal Astrology) (and in particular in Pushya) or in Capricorn. Also watch out for any planet in your chart that is sitting between 6-8 degrees of any sign as their energy will be impacted by this New Moon. Finally if you’re in your Moon (Chandra) or Saturn (Sani) Mahadasha this can be a significant Moon for new energy that is being birthed into how you live.
