It’s Time to Listen with August’s Shravana Full Moon
The Full Moon in Capricorn (Shravana Nakshatra) on the 9th is calling for you to hear what is really being said to you.
When: 8th – 9th of August, 2025
THE LAST FULL MOON BEFORE ECLIPSE SEASON
Astronomical Position of the Shravana Full Moon
The Full Moon on the 9th of August will peak in the tail of the Capricorn Constellation at 22’47 in a place known as Shravana Nakshatra. Shravana is an energy that demands you listen, you create the space to get quiet and open yourself up to be receptive to the messages the divine is sending to you at this time (just remember they can come through the most unlikely of people). It’s energy is pure, enlightening and focused on the spiritual. It was known to the ancients as the ‘star of learning.’ The place where you would listen to your Guru – within and with out.
As this is the last Full Moon before Eclipse Season (which will run from the 8th – 22nd of September), it holds a special energy within it – as if it is preparing you for what is to come. So listen, and instead of assuming you know, be open to hints of what you are stepping into next month.
STILLNESS IS OF THE ESSENCE
Mercury stations direct on the 11th of August, just after the Full Moon, which means it will be the strongest planet in the sky (as it will be stationary). So, the best thing you can do with this Full Moon, is hold back from speaking or reacting to situations with your ‘opinion’. As there can be ‘wild card’ energy at play - aka. the reaction you’re looking to receive from your input might not be what you get.
This is a Moon that demands you listen and hear what is truly being said (if you try to speak, you’ll miss the wisdom being delivered right into your lap). At the same you can find there is a strong inner calling to create the space to be silent in your own presence and really listen to yourself. This can feel incredibly uncomfortable, as when you sit in silence everything you have been repressing is given the opportunity to come to the surface to be felt – there is no longer any resistance to it in the form of a distraction like your phone, food, or another’s attention.
SILENCE IS THE ULTIMATE TEACHER
The ultimate teachings in life come in silence. Don’t interpret that literally, rather this is not talking about not making noise but rather the silence of the mind. It is the inner silence (the ‘no-mind’ or mind that is still or without thought) that is the ultimate teacher.
How do you find this silence?
You look for the source of the noise. It is said there are two options to still the mind (knowing you cannot kill it). You can find its source - by sitting in meditation asking, ‘where does this thought come from?’ or you can surrender to it. This is a Moon where it can be a little easier to enter meditation to seek this answer or to surrender to it.
THE FIRST OF 3 MOONS DEALING WITH ANCESTRAL KARMA
This Full Moon marks the first of 3 where you are slowly being called into working with the ancestral karmic seeds that live within you that are ready to be released, understood and experienced. This particular Moon is ruled by Saturn (the Lord of Karma), who is currently sitting with the ‘planet of ancestry’ – Neptune, in the ‘sign of ancestry’ – Pisces.
As such it is calling for you – in the silence you create – to turn within. To hear what you have been ignoring, and even get aware of old inherited trauma (in the form of control, power or manipulation) which is still informing how you communicate your needs to others (and even your ability to listen).
Maybe there is something deep within you here around the belief you aren’t heard? Or you can never be understood. Know that this ancestral energy has the potential to stem back to trauma and challenges experienced by your ancestors up to 7 generations back. Saturn’s placement in Uttara Bhadra offers you the ability to purify this karmic energy, to clear what no longer works and as well as water the gifts from this that are for your highest good (like intuition, trust, or faith).
WHAT TO WATCH FOR IN YOUR CHART
This Full Moon can feel particularly impactful, if you have any planets sitting in Capricorn or Cancer (Sidereal Astrology)…particularly anything sitting in Shravana Nakshatra (appox 10’ – 23’20 Capricorn). Also keep your eyes on any planets you have sitting in your chart around 21-23 degrees (of any sign) as the areas of your life they rule will be impacted by this Full Moon. Finally, if you’re in your Saturn (Sani) or Moon (Chandra) Mahadasha this Full Moon can mark a significant even or shift in energy you experience.
