Cancer New Moon July 2021: A Run-Down
This Cancer New Moon holds with in it intensely complex energy. Let’s face it. like the sign itself, you wouldn’t expect anything less. This is an energy calling for us, as a collective, to drop the shields we hold up in order to stop the world from fully penetrating us. The energetic shields we have come to use (often as a trauma response) to keep our emotions to ourselves and at the same stopping ourselves from fully connecting with another. It’s time to peel back, and start to realise the power in your own vulnerability. To see the place in which there is no such thing as ‘being or feeling too much’. You are human, and a craving we all have is to be accepted for who we really are. This is a New Moon calling this energy in to manifest over the next 6 months to the Cancer Full Moon, which will be the first Full Moon of 2022 on the 17th-18th of January.

What does this Cancer New Moon represent?
The New Moon will fall at 18’02 of Cancer. Now, Cancer is a delicate energy. Often symbolised as the mother, the home and our inner most sanctum. It has this intense energy to it which calls for us to move in time with nature and allow our emotions to shift the way the weather does, something which holds deep tension with the lives most of us live. Cancer is an energy that in most of us unhealed. I have this feeling that hasn’t always been the case, but as we live within the confines of a particularly unhealed patriarchal rule we have inadvertently all signed up to help heal it’s energy. Maybe simply said, this is a sign that calls for us to reawaken our inner feminine and honour the mother with + around us. That sounds simple but there is a lot of collective baggage around this which stems back to the start of the repression of the feminine. As such this is a New Moon calling for a new cycle to start which starts to pick at this wounding. You might call it the ‘mother wound’ or something along that line. It’s a cycle that is calling for deep cleansing to the places where you repress, deny, and even shield yourself from the immense power of the feminine.
A great example of this is if you think about the value society places on work. We are brought up to believe that we should work 9-5 (if you’re lucky) 5 days a week and always be ‘on’. In truth, we have good days, bad days, unproductive days, intensively productive days etc. We are dynamic beings, not capitalise robots.
Cancer energy calls for you to reawaken that connection you have to your feelings. To heal those places you still believe that it’s not ok to cry, that you are too much, that you feel too much, that you get too angry etc. none of that is true. It’s just that we live in a society obsessed with order, and scared of chaos. The most obvious form of chaos - your emotions.

This is a New Moon to rebalance order with chaos, to start to drop your guard when speaking about how you feel (you have every right to express yourself) and to take time to notice when you’re having a good or not so good day - and not labelling that as unproductive. FYI - You are not here to be productive.

What is the Astrology for the Cancer New Moon?
Sun Conjunct Moon in Cancer at 18’02 and Opposed Pluto Rx
There are two very big challenging aspects at play with this New Moon, and Pluto’s opposition is the first one. Pluto is in his last 2.5 years of Capricorn, and as such he is doing some heavy lifting. Digging up old dirt, calling for transmutation and transformation of the patriarchy and of the structures that no longer serve us. His opposition with the New Moon is a calling for you to turn within and see the darkness that surrounds how you understand your own emotions, your own inner chaos and the ways in which you still abide by the patriarchic ideals of the society that you live within. A society that is on the verge of immense change (hello, 2024). This New Moon is kicking off a 6 month deep dive into addressing the ways in which you are yet to fully stand in your feminine, and the ways in which you deny your fundamental links to nature. Be that an obsession with productivity, with order or with hierarchy + control.
New Moon Square Chiron, Lilith + Hekate
The final big, challenging aspect I want to mention comes in the form of Chiron, Lilith + Hekate all calling for immense healing around your expression of emotions. Let’s start with the dark ladies - Lilith + Hekate, who represent the repressed elements of the feminine. Be the the part that is persecuted for her magic; as well as the one who is rejected for for sexual freedom + honouring of self. The feminine has been repressed in a myriad of ways over the millennia and these two are being called to the fore to be healed. However in order for healing to take place, the wounding most be mad conscious and that often involves a little pain. The next 6 months bring with them the opportunity to experience the places within your life you repress your magic (your own witchcraft) as well as the places where you repress your own desire. There can be a lot of rage around this, as we all carry the wound of the feminine within us, and the ways in which she has been silenced. So be prepared for the emotional rollercoaster (and what’s wrong with that)- opening to anger, sadness etc - that comes when you decide enough is enough.
This is a New Moon is one to de-armour, lay down your protection and feel gift of the emotions that run through you. Knowing they are not you, but rather part of your beautiful guidance system.
