Begin the year with a Sādhanā (Spirutual practice) honouring the cosmic source of life (the Sun) THROUGH THE WISDOM OF ASTROLOGY AND MANTRA on his annual day of celebration - Ratha Saptamī.
Join Mantra Teacher, Siddhi Shakti, + Astrologer, Pippa Kate, for a radiant 60-minute practice honouring Sūrya during his festival Ratha Saptamī, the annual celebration of the Sun on the 25th of January - online with replay available.
This sacred day marks the moment in India when the Sun begins its northward journey - a powerful time for renewal, clarity and reconnecting with the essence of the soul (which the Sun represents in Vedic Astrology). Marking the light half of the year.
Why Ratha Saptamī (SURYA Jayantī) IS IMPORTANT?
Ratha Saptamī (or Surya Jayanthi) is deeply significant in the Vedic tradition. It represents a moment when the Sun’s light begins to grow stronger, bringing new vitality, direction and spiritual clarity.
Mythologically, Sūrya is depicted riding a chariot drawn by seven horses, each representing the seven days of the week and the seven chakras. On this day, the chariot is said to take a new course - inspiring us to align our own inner chariot with purpose, discipline and soul-led guidance.
Energetically, Ratha Saptamī is a time of renewal and purification. It’s believed to help dispel darkness, clear stagnancy and invite the illumination of insight, confidence and truth. Because the Sun represents the ātman (the soul) in Vedic Astrology, this festival becomes a powerful moment to reconnect with our inner essence and life path.
This year, Sūrya Jayantī/Ratha Saptamī falls on a Sunday, the Sun’s own day, amplifying its auspicious energy. We’ll gather in the morning to align with the Sun’s natural rhythm, practising during the Sun’s planetary hour to deepen our connection with its life-giving force.
