The last New Moon of the year

The Sagittarius New Moon on the 12th-13th of December, marks the final New Moon of the year. New Moons are a time of laying low, going inside and co-creating with the universe. They represent the first step in the lunar cycle. You can almost think of them as the incubation stage of something the universe wants you to manifest. The key to working with this energy is not to force it but rather align your will with the higher will of the universe. Ultimately allowing and accepting the intention which wishes to be made conscious to start it's energetic cycle through you. Know that whatever intention you lay with the New Moon, it will come to fruition over the next 18 months - around May 2025 - when there will be a Sagittarius Full Moon at the same degree as this New Moon. This suggests that what is coming is big, so be brave in laying your intentions.

It's time to play big

Sagittarius is an expansive energy. Everything it touches is magnified. It's an energy that is optimistic, curious and at it's highest level knows no limits. With this in mind, this New Moon is calling for you to play big. This isn't a time to lay intentions that you know you can achieve, that are already in the works or that you know won't stretch you. Rather it's time to be courageous, and allow the universe to co-create something with you that will allow you to recognise more of your abundance and help you glimpse at your unlimited nature. If there is a dream you have had, that you don't know how to act upon...this is the Moon to ask for help and universal support. Don't get caught up in the details, or perceived limitations of the mind, rather feel into your soul and lay intentions from this place which is your unlimited potential.

Limitations will arise

We live in a world of polarity. That means that in order for abundance to be experienced, limitations must exist (and be experienced too). As this New Moon kicks off a lunar cycle calling you into your unlimited nature, it will naturally have you running head first into the ways you limit this. That can manifest as stories you tell yourself, programming from your upbringing, behaviours that sabotage your dreams, fears of money + responsibility...and even limitations that are reflected in the people around you. Remember that wherever there is a block or limitation - within or outside of you - it is a place where abundance is possible. It is through the experience of the limitation, that you know the feeling of what it is to move beyond this. So instead of getting down on yourself when you hit that energy, see it as an opportunity to experience what isn't abundance - without attaching to it or making it part of your identity…

This is about the balance of responsibility and freedom

I don't normally talk about decans in astrology (and if you have no idea what they are don't worry). This New Moon at 20'39 is in the final 10 degrees of Sagittarius and so is influenced by the energy of Saturn. This can manifest as an internal battle between responsibility and freedom. Where your sense of obligation to others (and even not trusting them to look after themselves) becomes the thing that limits you to the abundance of this Moon. So pay attention if you feel this coming up for you. The other way this can manifest is that Saturn can help provide the grounding and framework to land the dream that wants to be manifested through you with this Moon. In a way it's allowing your imagination (and wildest dreams) to be given the opportunity to be turned into action.

This is about the highest good for all

The New moon will be aligned with Mars and the Asteroid Parvati, who are calling for you to consider where your ambition (and that includes what you want to manifest with this New Moon) is for the highest good of all. In a way this is the only energy that can hold you back and that is if the intention you are laying is coming from the ego - and it's need to prove something because it doesn't believe it is enough. Mars and Parvati offer you an incredible sense of drive + desire to act, but only if this is underpinned by integrity, authenticity and knowing that what manifest won't just benefit you but will benefit the world as whole. The way to know if what you are intending does that is to ask - does this come from love? Meaning is the expansive energy of love the underpinning force in what you are asking. If not, then save yourself the karma (of an egoic intention) and dream bigger.

The key to unlocking this energy is sovereignty

This New Moon will be in challenge with the asteroids Medusa + Juno and Neptune. As such the key to stepping into the potential promised in this New Moon is to remember that it already lies within you. This isn't a time for trading your energy with someone else who you believe is more abundant or more powerful. No! Rather it is about realising that it is up to you to claim this right for yourself. As such it's time to be very clear on your boundaries with others, and notice where you give your power away (that can be as simple as saying yes, when you really mean no; or even responding before you really know what feels right to you). Your sensitivity to others people's energy should be a little less intense than normal, so this should make it easier to hear your inner voice + guidance. Remember that you are the most powerful thing on this planet, but you are yet to remember this. This power comes from within, and as such keep that in mind with the intention you wish to set this New Moon.

A deeply spiritual New Moon

Sagittarius is ruled by the planet Jupiter, who is known as the Guru in Vedic Astrology; and as a sign it is known to rule the higher mind. As such this is an energy that is not about getting caught in the weeds, stuck on the detail or overthinking the next step. Rather it is about questioning life, and it's meaning, and taking a perspective which allows you to start to see the bigger picture (as best you can). It's an energy that asks for you to align your will with the divine's will, and through that birth greater optimism, love and acceptance into your life. On the physical plane this can manifest as the call to pursue a new spiritual practice, to learn from a spiritual teacher or Guru (in person, through audio or books), and to get to know your own inner Guru. That part of you that has the ability to shed light upon the darkness of your own ignorance. Although Sagittarius is an extraverted energy, it is also an energy knows that it is always cared for by the divine mother (god, goddess, source whatever you want to call the unnameable).

Finally Mercury will station Retrograde before the New Moon

A big energy to keep your eyes on with this New Moon is Mercury who will station retrograde just before the New Moon. Although it won't have an influence on the New Moon you will be able to feel it's energy build, as it will be retrograde until the 2nd of January. This just means that communication can go a little wild, people from the past can pop back up (particularly exes) and electronics can go on the fritz. The key to working with this energy is to see it as the ebb and flow of the universe. It's the opportunity to go back in time (quite literally when people from the past pop-up or old situations re-occcur) and use your voice in a new way. Think of it like sitting an exam for the universe. If you want some extra support with this. Check out this New Moon's Ritual + Reading.
